A Master of Public Health is an esteemed degree, valuable in a variety of health care occupations. It is a requirement for many public health positions and preferred for others, preparing graduates to assist in the maintenance and promotion of high quality health standards in federal, state, and local health and environmental organizations.

Graduates of the Master of Public Health program demonstrate:
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices for identifying public health needs and administering public health programs, including courses in community health, environmental and occupational health, biostatistics, epidemiology, health care administration and policy, research and evaluation methods, health care planning and marketing, and developing health promotion programs.
- The ability to evaluate public health needs and health promotion concepts in order to be active knowledge-makers in the public health field.
- Active participation and contribution as leaders in a variety of public health settings.
